NRG Patagonia is manufacturing the first 1,500 kilowatts (1.5 Mw) turbinein the San Jorge Gulf region, on the basis of a design tested and certified at international levels for Class I wind (winds of higher intensities).
This design has a wind turbine built with identical design than the one in South Korea, which is operated by the local company Have Jin Industrial Co. Ltd., linked to NRG Patagonia since they share the design, engineering and core technology obtained in Germany for a wind turbine to be used in regions of Class II wind (of lesser intensity that the Class I wind, according to international standards).
This first equipment has been certified by the German Institute for Certifications DEWI OCC (Offshore and Certification Center GmbH). A “Statement of Compliance STC 060601, DEWI-OCC VA-01" has been issued in connection with the IEC PTE-1 standard, according to the certificate issued for the Class II model on June 19, 2006.
On September 11, 2007, NRG Patagonia obtained the DEWI Certificate Nº DEWI- OCC –ZE- 0608-37-1 (e) for the Class I model, designed for the prevailing winds in the Gulf San Jorge region, which represents a significant achievement for the regional company.
This certificate guarantees the design of each of the components of the equipment, the structural calculation, its actual operation and generating capacities.
